Marcus Thomson

Marcus Thomson is a Melbourne-based photographer specialising in environmental portraiture.

After shooting across regional and rural Australia for the National Australia Bank’s 2009 agribusiness calendar, Marcus has been commissioned again to capture images for the bank’s 2010 project. From Western Australia to Tasmania, Marcus is currently capturing portraits of the ‘people behind the business’, and the landscapes in which they work.

Marcus’s diverse client base includes Nikon (Japan), Greyhounds Victoria, and a variety of vineyards in rural Victoria.

Now showing at the Ararat Regional Gallery alongside the Albert Tucker exhibition is Marcus’s, Vantage Point: The Shapes and Colours of Movement. A collection of aerial images, his work is a bird’s eye view of the Australian landscape. The images explore the shared patterns, colours and textures of both the constructed and the natural environment.

Bonnie Savage

Bonnie Savage is one of Melbourne’s top emerging photographers. Whist in Melbourne Bonnie’s work encompasses a combination of documentary style, portraiture and food photography. Earlier this year she traveled to Nigeria and South Africa as part of a project documenting a Melbourne band's work recording artists around Africa. She managed to find some time on the side to slip away from the band to shoot for herself. The image of a woman pounding yam was shot in a housing commission estate in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city.

Recently Bonnie has been shooting for the Abbotsford Convent, documenting the building for Heritage Victoria prior to redevelopment which has been an interesting and photographically challenging project.

She has recently produced a series of moody images for Saker -- a curtain company -- that will be seen in the interior design magazine The Designer which is due to be launched in Melbourne in the coming weeks.

Bonnie has also been shooting Greg Malouf and his prize winning quail dish as seen above. This was featured in a magazine based in Abu Dhabi exploring the influence of Middle Eastern food in Melbourne.
